Mr. Angelini was appointed chief executive officer and managing director of Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts in July 1999.  In addition to this position, he is also a director of the board of Shangri-La Asia Limited, a publicly listed company on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, which owns the hotel management company. 

Mr. Angelini joined Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts in August 1993 as group vice president operations and general manager of Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong. His association with the group began back in 1988 when he was general manager of the Kowloon Shangri-La in Hong Kong, which at that time was managed by Westin Hotels.

A 42-year veteran of the hotel industry, Mr. Angelini started his career in his native country, Italy, then gained further experience in the hospitality industry in Switzerland, U.K., Bermuda, Grand Cayman Islands, Canada, and the United States of America with Americana Hotels. His 14-year career with Westin took him to Korea, Mexico, Hong Kong and Singapore.
