Exploring Kuala Lumpur
In Merdeka Square, a black marble plaque marks the spot where the Malaysian flag was hoisted for the first time on August 31, 1957. The plaza is also home to an open-air amphitheatre. Surrounding the Square are many buildings of historical interest such as the Royal Selangor Club and the National History Museum.
