Shanghai has two metro lines and one light rail line. The No. 1 line rubs from Shanghai train station in the north through Renmin Square and down to the Xinzhuang metro station in the southern part of town.

The No. 2 line runs from Zhongshan Park to Longyang Lu in Pudong. The light rail doubles as the third metro line and runs from the western perimeter of the city to Shanghai train station and then northeast.

Trains offer an efficient, scenic way of traveling within China. Trains link most parts of the country with reliable service. You may travel in one of four classes: Soft Seat or Soft Sleeper with air-conditioned; and the Hard Seat or Hard Sleeper.

Shanghai is at the junction of the Beijing-Shanghai and Beijing-Hangzhou train lines, and is an excellent location for reaching many of China’s far-reaching cities.
