Exploring Xian
Near the tomb of Tai Zong, is the tomb of Tang Emperor Gao Zong (628--690 AD) and his wife the Empress Wu. Upon the Emperor's death, Empress Wu usurped the throne and ruled with great harshness for 21 years. A sacred way flanked by stone figures of animals and mythical beasts leads to the tomb.
